How is the Oil & Gas?
The Oil & gas or also known as gas and oil, includes the global processes of exploration, extraction, refining, transportation (often by tankers and pipelines) and marketing of petroleum products. The largest volume of products in the industry is fuel oil and gasoline. The hydrocarbon sector is made up of the following areas:
- Upstream: It is the exploration and production stage, the way to extract crude oil; as the material that springs from the seabed (Offshore) or from the land itself (Onshore) is known and is the raw material for extracting petroleum derivatives.
- Midstream: It is the stage that involves the storage and transportation of crude oil through pipelines, tank trucks, trains, barges and ships.
- Downstream (downstream): It is the refining stage, that is, the processes to extract from oil: gases, motor gasoline, aviation gasoline (Jet Fuel), kerosene, diesel, diesel, solvents, lubricating bases, paraffin, heavy fuel (fuel oil), asphalt, plastic, among others.
Each stage is a world and involves a series of tools and equipment that must fulfill each function in the shortest possible time and in the most optimal way.
Rupture discs in the Oil & Gas
Rupture discs are pressure relief devices that are based on the manufacture of a thin sheet and are activated at an indicated pressure and temperature. Hydraulic Tubing Drain
HDT, for its acronym in English, is a type of drainage that is used in the upstream stage in the tubes that are placed to drill oil wells called “pipe strings.”
Its simple operation combines a threaded nipple with a small disc called PAD that, when a blockage of particulate material, corrosion, paraffin, among others occurs, fluid is circulated inside the tube at a certain pressure, breaking the disc and facilitating the extraction of the string to the outside. Its reliable design makes it work at high temperatures and high pressures, avoiding premature damage to drilling tools in the world of Oil & Gas.
Conventional pre-bulged rupture disc
The CPD or pre-bulged rupture disc is a special one-piece disc designed for work at very high pressures (75 to 30,000 psi) and can be housed in a 30°c disc holder or a hammer-type joint, that is, a compact design, which provides the necessary compression to maintain the rupture disc securely in place, union widely used in the Oil & Gas.
