Maintenance and calibration of spring supports

1. On-site spring support inspection

Review and evaluate constant load or variable load spring supports at their installed location.

Inspection of the spring support condition:

  • Type of spring, variable load or constant load
  • Condition of the coating applied to protect the spring, threaded accessories, and other elements that make up the spring support from the environment.
  • Verification of spring support identification plates.
  • Review of cold load of the spring supports
  • Review of the hot load of the spring support.
  • Verification of the spring support displacement; the indicator must be within the range designed by the manufacturer.

2. Disassembly of spring supports

The spring supports enter the Flexilatina de Colombia facilities.

  • The spring supports are disassembled.
  • Bearings are replaced.
  • Damaged threaded parts are replaced.

  • All elements of the spring support undergo a sandblasting cleaning process according to SSPC-SP standards.

4. Verification and calibration of spring supports

  • The spring supports are assembled and lubricated to perform load testing according to design data.
  • Verification and calibration are done according to international standards and manufacturer recommendations.

Flexilatina de Colombia has calibrated and certified equipment to perform force tests, with a calibration capacity of ten tons of force.

5. Coating for spring supports

  • All plates are replaced with new plates to provide traceability to the spring supports.
  • Threaded accessories are coated with zinc or iridized to protect them from corrosion in the environment where they will be installed.
