When to use a Flexiloop?

What are Flexiloops for?

1-The manufacturing standard of Flexiloop absorbs movements of 51 mm and 102 mm in the three X axes, Y and Z.

2-Our Flexiloops can absorb important movements in the three planes Y, X and Y; For this, we calculate dimensions different from the standard ones and supply them. These types of cases can occur in dynamic events, such as an earthquake, where movements can occur simultaneously.

3-They absorb large amounts of axial movement in systems that have long, straight stretches, that operate at temperatures that generate expansion.

4-Because they are made with flexible metal hose, they absorb very well the metallic vibration that is generated in the system. A good example is in drinking water pipes in shopping centers, airports, and condominiums. In these systems that have many consumption points, micro vibrations are generated that cause serious problems in the pipe and support points.

5-It is the best solution to absorb settlements of civil structures; When it is required to pass pipe from one building to another and there are differential settlements of each of the structures, our Flexiloops are the best and most economical solution.

6-To avoid the use of pipe loops, which require long arms and civil support structure. Our Flexiloops are more economically viable. It is essential to support the pipe in such a way that the expansion runs towards the Flexiloops. One of the most important advantages when installing a Flexiloop is that because it is manufactured with flexible metal hose, it does NOT generate any stress on the anchors of the straight section where it was installed. When a conventional pipe loop is used, when it bends and absorbs the movement, it generates great stresses at the two support points at the ends and great tensions in the pipe.

7-In fire water and drinking water systems, they are the best solution to absorb movement in the event of an earthquake or a large earthquake.

What components make up our Flexiloops?

There are three components:

1-Pipe and elbows: We manufacture in carbon steels ASTM A53 Gr. B, A106, API 5L; in stainless steel type 304 or 316L. According to the operating conditions, the pipe can be in SCH 10, 20, 40 or 80.

2- Flexible metal hose: It is the flexible element, it consists of an internal corrugated bellows in 304, 316L or 321 stainless steel and one or two braided stainless steel meshes, generally in 304 stainless steel.

3-Terminals: We have several options, in ASTM A105 carbon steel we offer: flanges ratings #150 and #300; in carbon steel ASTM A106, A53 or API 5L beveled nipples for welding, slotted nipples for coupling with Victaulic type unions. If stainless steel terminals are required, we can supply 304.

What models do we manufacture and what application are they used for?

  • Flexiloop UW: It has a flexible on each side, that is, it has three flexibles, two on the vertical ones and one on the horizontal. We manufacture them from 1” to 12”. According to the movement required, we calculate the length of each flexible.

  • Flexiloop V: It has a flexible on each vertical side; that is, it has two flexibles. We manufacture them from 1” to 12”. According to the movement required, we calculate the length of each flexible.

  • Flexiloop U: It has a flexible on each vertical side, that is, it has two flexibles. We manufacture them from 1” to 12”. According to the movement required, we calculate the length of each flexible.
