What are industrial gases?
Industrial gases, produced from the fractionation of air, are those used in a wide range of industrial applications such as electronics, chemistry, energy, food and beverage industry, metal production, oil and gas, refining, welding, industrial pharmaceutical, biotechnology and health care.
Within the gases we find:
- Oxygen
- Nitrogen
- Carbon dioxide
- Carbon monoxide
- Acetylene
- Argon
- Hydrogen
Application of rupture discs of relevance in gas production plants
Increasingly, industrial gases such as Oxygen, Nitrogen and Argon are delivered to users in liquid form at cryogenic temperatures (-185°C) and these users store them in specially designed tanks for later use.
Cryogenic tanks

Each tank consists of a double wall vacuum insulated (two concentric vessels). These containers are manufactured and tested in accordance with ASME and PED 97/23/EC. Each tank has overpressure protection using rupture discs.
Tank carts

Liquid nitrogen trailers generally employ rupture discs along with safety valves in case the rupture does not function properly.
The series rupture disc P an optimal solution for industrial gases
Fike, a company with more than 75 years in the market, offers a reliable threaded or flanged rupture disc solution. This type of rupture disc has the ability to be used outdoors and at extreme temperatures, making it the optimal solution for applications with cryogenic gases.

Cryogenic thermoses
Cryogenic thermoses are in high demand in the industrial sector and are smaller tanks, which are used to be transported to specific clients.
