Pressure Switch Terminology

  • Trip point or Setpoint: It is the specific pressure at which the snap action switch is activated to open or close the electrical circuit.
  • Adjustable range: It is the range in which the trip point of a pressure switch or pressure switch can be set to operate. That is, you can adjust in what pressure range you want the device to activate.
  • Deadband: This is the difference between the point at which the pressure switch activates and the point at which it deactivates. For example, if the pressure switch has been set to operate at 300 psi, then it will activate when the pressure reaches that level. If the pressure drops to 290 psi, the pressure switch will activate again (this is the reset point). The deadband in this case would be 10 psi.

The mechanical contacts are micro switches with adjustable hysteresis, which stand out for their electrical power, up to AC 250V / 20A, which allows direct switching in processes, such as a pump.

Electromechanical pressure switches can come in factory-set models, have blind adjustment capability, or offer field calibration adjustment.
