RECTANGULAR METAL EXPANSION JOINTS REF:MEJ-SQ
DESCRIPTION Rectangular metal expansion joints are designed to absorb movements caused by thermal expansion and/or mechanical vibration in duct systems. DESIGN The flexible element of metal expansion joints is the bellows, this is regularly manufactured in austenitic stainless steels AISI 304, 304L, 316, 316L, 316Ti, 321, 347; or in special alloys such as Inconel®, Incoloy®, Monel® or Hastelloy®. The metal expansion joints, reference MEJ-SQ, are manufactured by Flexilatina from Colombia. Its most common shape is rectangular, although we also make them square, hexagonal or octagonal. This flexible accessory is designed to cushion, absorb and compensate for movements caused by thermal expansion and/or vibration. The main objective is to provide flexibility in pipelines and lower the tensions that are created in a system. The designs of the MEJ-SQ expansion joint are made following the manufacturing and quality criteria of the EJMA and ASME Section VIII division 1 and 2. The most important part of an expansion joint is the bellows. It must be resistant and flexible to withstand axial compression and/or elongation, lateral or transverse and/or angular movements. This type of gasket is manufactured including a refractory material box in its design. This design extends the useful life of the bellows and allows use less expensive materials, the temperature reaching the bellows being much lower. Single type: The simple type bellows corner design is the most widely used in manufacturing standard rectangular joints. |

Chamber Type: Chamber-type bellows corner design provides greater flexibility in systems with more cyclical conditions. DESIGN FEATURES: Maximum temperature: 1200 °C Maximum pressure: < 7psi Fatigue life: ≥ 1000 cycles. MOVEMENTS: • Axial, compression and extension. • Lateral, horizontal and vertical deflection. • Angular movement • Mechanical vibrations. MATERIALS: • Connections: ASTM A 36, ASTM A 240 TP 304 and ASTM A 240 TP 316 among the most common. • Rectangular bellows: AISI 304, 304L, 316, 316L, 316Ti, 321, 347 or in special alloys such as Inconel®, Incoloy®, Monel® or Hastelloy®. • Guide pipe AISI 304, 304L, 316, 316L, 316Ti, 321, 347 or in special alloys such as Inconel®, Incoloy®, Monel® or Hastelloy®. ADVANTAGES • High flexibility. • Great capacity to absorb movements caused by thermal expansion. • High durability. • Excellent chemical resistance. • Absorb movements caused by thermal expansion in various directions. • Isolates or reduces vibrations. • National manufacturing.
