Flexible metal hoses

Flexihose flexible metal hoses, also known as S96, are manufactured with bellows in stainless and austenitic steels AISI type 304, 304L, 316, 316L and 321.

They normally have one or two external meshes in 304 stainless steel, preventing axial stretching of the bellows due to internal pressure.

In static applications, they allow absorbing misalignments and can be used in high temperature and medium pressure systems, where total tightness is required.

Our engineering team always assists users in the calculation, selection and correct assembly of all the flexible metal hoses we supply.

Technical criteria for flexible metal hoses

  • Compatibility of the bellows material with the fluid.
  • Calculation of maximum working pressure. Based on operating temperature and type of application.
  • Calculation of the minimum required length.

SP: Service pressure.
DP: Design pressure, normally 1.25 * PS.
AMP: Maximum acceptable pressure. This pressure must be calculated for each application, it is always affected by the operating temperature and the dynamic factor of the application.

We recommend to see our technical catalog of flexible metal hoses.

Pma: PN * FT * FD

NP: Nominal pressure corresponds to a nominal value that is calculated for work at ideal conditions, ambient temperature and with a dynamic factor = 1.

Most common advantages of Flexihose hoses

  • They dampen vibration in piping connected to rotating equipment, such as pumps, turbines, compressors, mills, etc.
  • They allow conducting a fluid between a rigid point and a moving one. For example, vulcanizing presses, steam rollers, etc.
  • Absorb movements (axial, lateral and/or angular) caused by thermal expansion. They solve misalignments in pipes.
  • As they are flexible metallic hoses, it does not mean that they can replace hydraulic hoses. They dampen vibration in pipes connected to rotating equipment, such as pumps, turbines, compressors, mills, etc.

Flexihose flexible metal hoses, being made of stainless steel, can be used at temperatures up to 500°C.

When the application exceeds 500°C, special alloy bellows such as Monel®, Inconel® or Hastelloy® must be used.

Flexilatina keeps in stock important quantities of flexible metal hoses in diameters from 1/4″ to 20″.

They are assembled in our plant, complying with all ISO 10380 standards.

Most importantly, we comply with NAHAD specifications, where each piece is tested and numbered, generating traceability.

Our suppliers are Aeroflex and Dinatecnica, with great international recognition in the manufacture of flexible metal hose.

All couplings used in the assembly comply with technical specifications in threads and/or flanges.

Flexible metal hoses for high pressure Flexihose HP

Flexilatina assembles high pressure hoses in diameters from 1″ to 12″, widely used in Oil&Gas and water injection applications. For this type of hoses we offer special bellows, capable of resisting high pressures, assembled with two or three meshes.

The bellows are made of stainless steel ASTM A-240 316L. The nominal pressures at which they can be used range from 500 to 5000 psi, varying in the different diameters. The calculation of the maximum operating pressure must comply with the standards already mentioned.

Rubber hoses for high pressures

These hoses are used in Oil&Gas, for slurry discharge and water injection at temperatures from -4° F to 200° F (-20° C to + 93° C). We supply for pressures of 5000, 7500, 10000 and 15000 psi.

Its manufacture consists of a modified Nitrile tube, especially for high abrasion, with several layers of polyester reinforcement and layers of high tensile strength wire. Its most common application is in the injection of mud or water in oil well production.

These hoses can be supplied with an external sheath (braided mesh in SS 304) and/or with an anti whip wire.
